The Church tower houses a fine peal of 6 bells ranging in weight from the 5 cwt treble to the 13.5 cwt tenor. The bells date back to 1760, with the 5th and tenor bells being recast in 1902 and the 3rd in 1960. At that time the peal was tuned and re-hung with new fittings in a new bell frame. The bells are rung before Sunday services, and are also heard at weddings and on special civic occasions. There is an enthusiastic team of ringers, of all ages, and visitors are always welcome. Practice night is on Friday evening. The Tower Captain is Mike Beer. |
